| Chicago is the most popular domestic business
travel destination; London, England, for world travelers, according to the latest biennial Survey & Analysis of Business Travel & Costs--9th edition, published by Runzheimer International, the Rochester, Wisconsin-based management consulting firm. Chicago is the only metropolitan area named by over half (54%) of the 227 responding travel managers who were asked to name their travelers' top 10 business travel destinations. Other cities high on the list included New York, named by 44%; Atlanta, 41%; and Los Angeles, 40% . "Denver re-entered the top 10 domestic travel destinations, beating out Houston for 10th position," noted Jessica Roslof, survey editor. "Chicago and New York remained first and second, and Atlanta surpassed Los Angeles and Dallas to position itself as the third most-reported domestic travel destination." London heads the list of most popular international destinations, cited by 54% of the respondents, nearly twice as many as Paris which was second with 28%. Toronto, Mexico City and Tokyo round out the top five. "Toronto, at number three, is a newcomer to the top five, displacing Hong Kong," notes Roslof. "Mexico City climbed a notch and Tokyo fell from number two to number five." Survey results also show that although 22% of a typical organization's employees travel, only 10% are considered frequent travelers, and only 4% travel internationally. The average number of days frequent flyers are away from the office on business is 48, up from 42 days two years ago, reversing a slight downward trend over the past four years.
